Robin Page

Robin's Books

Robin has written thirty-one books, at first using mainstream publishers. His all-time best seller was “Weather Forecasting the Country Way” that sold many thousands of copies and remained in print for over twenty years.

He started self-publishing when he could not find a publisher to produce his book “The Hunting Gene”. In view of the political position of hunting at the time it was a remarkable situation. Robin believes that political correctness ruled the roost in fashionable London publishing circles rather than proper editorial considerations. Consequently Robin gambled his time and his savings, and as a non-hunting observer he wrote, produced and sold the book.

It was a great success, getting many good reviews. It was a remarkable commercial success too, despite being produced in “hardback” and lavishly illustrated. For his trouble the publication of the book led to Robin being sacked (yes, sacked again) as Country Living’s farming and wildlife adviser and almost certainly contributed to his disappearance from the BBC. It made Robin realise that “censorship” in Britain is very real, but hidden by “spin”, and “free speech” is a highly managed illusion.

Since then Robin has continued to self-publish very successfully and he has also produced a number of books by other author.

Robin hopes to be re-publishing some of his out-of-print books in paperback, in due course.  The first will be "Dust in a Dark Continent" - about his many trips to Africa. Then it is hoped that "Gone to the Dogs" will be the next  - there are many requests for this one and it seems very difficult to find in antiquarian and second-hand bookshops.  Once published they will appear on this part of the website.
