The Manifesto For The Country

THE CAMPAIGN TO CLAIM BACK DEMOCRACY

 ROBIN PAGE’s

    MANIFESTO FOR OUR COUNTRY

REFORM POLITICS AND THE HOUSE OF SLEAZE

Over the last five years the people of Britain have been severely let down by those they elected to the House of Commons and by the Party Political system. We have just experienced the most corrupt and dishonest Parliament for generations. The answer is not to reform the voting system and the House of Lords – but to reform the House of Commons itself and break the incestuous love-in between our political elite and their friends in the media. The current political parties have failed Britain and ruined it financially, morally, socially and environmentally.

Despite the efforts of the mainstream politicians and their allies in the BBC, ITV etc, the real issues of the 2010 General Election are not tax give-aways, and assorted electoral bribes, but how we reclaim our democracy, and how do we rid the system of those who have failed us?

Parliament and Government.

Cut the expenses of MPs by 50%.

Cut the pensions of MPs by 80%.

The salaries of MPs to be based on need. All MPs to undergo a “means test” related to their incomes away from the Commons. This would help cure “political scrounger syndrome” which took over the last mediocre Parliament.

Fixed term elections every four years to reduce the opportunity for political manipulation and opportunism.

All Prime Ministers must be voted into power. Consequently the resignation or death of a Prime Minister must be followed by a General Election.

Stricter controls over postal voting and proxy voting to reduce the amount of electoral fraud and “pressure voting”. If a candidate is worth voting for the elector should be prepared to visit the polling station.

An additional space should be included on every voting slip to enable electors to show dissatisfaction – NO Candidate is worth voting for -  X

Parliamentary Candidates should only stand for Parliament after five years residency, and employment, in their own constituencies.

This would stop the hi-jacking of safe seats in all parts of the country by London’s political elite.

David Miliband representing South Shields?
Ed Miliband representing Doncaster North?
Hilary Benn representing Central Leeds?

What a mockery of democracy – it is shamocracy - the taking of democracy away from the people by party “apparatchiks” – full-time political functionaries.

No person below the age of 35 to stand for Parliament, to allow all prospective candidates to have time to undertake “proper jobs”.

No elected politician to serve for the duration of more than three Parliaments – except a serving Prime Minister, Cabinet members and Shadow Cabinet member (to allow for some continuity). This would cut out the dead wood, remove time-servers and regularly refresh Parliament.

Married couples or “partnership pairs” to be banned from standing in two constituencies.

All votes in the House of Commons to be  “free votes”. The whipping system should be scrapped allowing every vote to become a matter of conscience, principle and belief.

All broadcast programmes giving advantage to the large political parties over small organisations and individuals to be banned once an election has been called. This includes programmes such as “Question Time, “Any Questions” and debates among the main politicians and parties. Although members of the media love the Americanisation of elections – it is anti-democratic.

Similarly all national party political broadcasts should be scrapped.

Each candidate in an election should be allowed one ten-minute broadcast on his or her local radio and television stations.

Give the people national and local referendums, as in Switzerland.

Only after all these have been achieved will democracy be returned to the people. At the moment we do not have “Government by the people for the people”. Instead we have “Government by the political elite for the benefit of themselves and their parties”.

Scrap the Regional Assemblies – they are unelected, unaccountable and undemocratic.

Europe.

Give the people a Referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.

All three major parties promised a vote on the Treaty, and then reneged on their promises.

If the people vote against the Lisbon Treaty, then a vote should also be held on withdrawal from the European Union.

With all the main parties claiming to want to reduce expenditure – membership of the EU costs Britain £1.8 an hour – over £43m a day – or £15.6b a year. What a waste.

For the record – Robin Page likes the people and cultures of Europe. He despises the European Superstate that is the European Union; it has similar democratic deficits to Eastern Europe before the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Immigration.

Immigration is an issue that can only be described as scandalous. The people of Britain have never voted on immigration, and the intimidating power of “political correctness” has prevented proper discussion.

Immigration is primarily an environmental issue – it is about “space”, not “race”.

Over-population is the main reason for possible climate change, pollution and social unrest. Although the media brainwashes the British people about the evils of over-population in India and China – Britain is the fourth most densely populated country in the world and more densely populated than India and China.

Britain has to import food and energy in order to survive, making the huge influx of immigrants under Labour astonishing.

In 1998 the United Nations estimated that the population of Britain would be 59m in 2025.

The population breached the 60m mark in 2008 and is already well over 61m.

The population density of England is now over 400 people per sq.km.

In Poland it is 125 per sq.km.

Romania 91 per sq.km.

Lithuania 55 per sq.km.

Somalia 22 per sq.km.

All this makes the immigration policy of New Labour a matter of major environmental illiteracy.

Political Correctness.

Political Correctness is one of the reasons why immigration has been allowed to get out of control. Under PC, to discuss the problem becomes “racism” and those opposed to it are labelled “racist”. Political correctness stifles free speech, demands conformity and brainwashes our young people. In addition it creates a society of sneaks, informers and bullies. It causes harassment, incitement, litigation, recrimination and division. The origins of PC can be traced back to those who wanted to undermine Western values and society – they have almost succeeded.

The stranglehold of political correctness must be broken.

The Burka.

Another taboo PC subject.

The wearing of the Burka in public places should be banned. It represents voluntary apartheid and it is anti-integration. “The Burka makes perfect clothing for terrorists and criminals”.

Incredibly Robin was forced to remove the last sentence from his election pamphlet. The Royal Mail Artwork Vetting Team ruled that “this could be deemed as offensive” – incredible. Thanks to the censorship of political correctness a serious political comment – based on fact – has been deleted in a General Election – democracy?

The Greed Olympics.

Obviously Britain’s original Olympic bid of £2.4b for the 2012 Games was based on sheer incompetence or deceit. What will the final bill be - £14b - £15b?

Blair of course was very keen to have the Blair Olympics, just as Hitler was keen on his Olympics in earlier times.

Those running the Olympics should immediately stop raiding the lottery – so denying money to a host of worthy community and conservation projects.

The modern Olympics are about elitist minority sports. The Olympic Movement should get back to its roots. Future Games should be held in the developing world, with the First World financing facilities and infrastructure – so, improving sports facilities becomes an opportunity for providing aid creatively.

Sadly the London Olympics seem to be based on money and inflated egos – they really will be the Greed Olympics – leaving a legacy of self-satisfaction, wasted money, under-used facilities and empty buildings.

Debt.

Of course the cost of the Olympics is of little concern to Gordon Brown. The man who boasted of “prudence” seems to have based his whole political philosophy on a mixture of debt and fantasy. To count the debt accumulated under Gordon Brown at a pound per second would take well in excess of 50,000 years. “Prudence” Brown? No – “Gormless Gordon”.

Young Debt.

It is astonishing that a whole generation of young people – students under Gormless Gordon – are being brought up to accept debt.

Bring back proper student grants and apprenticeships. At the same time reduce the number of Mickey Mouse courses and qualifications.

Call to Account those with Blood On Their Hands.

The British people were deceived as their soldiers were sent into Iraq on false information – one of the most unsavoury wars in British Military History. How many innocent Iraqis have been killed and maimed – two million? Four million? We will never be told.

“Bomber” Blair now claims that the war was justified on the grounds of “regime change”.

So he found the regime in Iraq unacceptable – but the one in China, full of “human rights” abuses, acceptable. Answers on the back of a consultancy fee agreement please.

Incredibly “Bomber” also took Britain into its “Fourth Afghan War”. He clearly had little real knowledge of history or geography.

The war cannot be won. If the Russians couldn’t win, what was Blair thinking about?

But what about regime change in Zimbabwe?

Oh sorry – it’s got no oil.

Bring our courageous troops back – no more wasted lives.

This Manifesto could go on – but enough.

Don’t vote for the political parties who have failed Britain
